FIS FY/IS/WK Kimberley Speed Project

FIS FY/IS/WK training in Kimberley before the Kimberley Speed Series Jan24-31st.
There will be a 3 day Speed camp from Jan 21-23rd geared to introduce FIS athletes to the world of FIS Speed.  This will have a progression geared to safely introducing athletes to FIS DH.  Day 1 will be an open free ski of the hill in order to get used to DH ski's, the terrain and the track.  There will not be any gates on this day.  Day 2 will have the majority of the DH course set and we will run the course in sections.  Day 3 of the speed camp will allow the athletes to run the track from top to bottom.  The athletes can choose to start with full ski suits (jackets and pants) to start and remove their outer layers as they feel comfortable increasing the speed.

Following the speed camp we will have 3 days of DH training before we start the first speed race.  We are very fortunate to have Kimberley host these events as the track their is perfect for this level of FIS speed races.  With all the elements of a DH track paired with moderate terrain, long rolling flats the progression that this project offers is second to non.  We will also be training SL and GS and there will be 1 night SL race.  Athletes must be prepared to ski everything and ready for a fun and long camp.
